According to the aforementioned letter of the Directorate General of Migration Management, Article 24, paragraph 2 of Law No. 6458 states: “Extension applications shall be submitted to the governorships starting sixty days before the expiration date of the residence permit and, in all circumstances, before the residence permit expires…” Similarly, Article 67, paragraph 24 of the aforementioned Implementation Directive stipulates: “The file related to the extension application for a student residence permit shall be prepared by the student and submitted to the International Student Office starting sixty days before the expiration date of the residence permit and before the permit expires…”

It has been emphasized that it is important for foreign nationals residing in our country with a student residence permit to be aware that they may submit their residence permit extension applications starting sixty days before the expiration date of their current permit.
