A seminar titled “Fiqh Practices in Somalia and Maqasid al-Shari‘a” was held at our faculty.


Our faculty hosted an important academic event within the scope of the Erasmus Program. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hussein Isse from Mogadishu University in Somalia delivered a seminar entitled “Fiqh Practices in Somalia and Maqasid al-Shari‘a” on Wednesday, 4 November 2025, at 14:00 in the Ömer Nasuhi Bilmen Amphitheater.

The event attracted significant interest from the faculty members and students. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Isse discussed the practical application of contemporary fiqh issues in Somalia, the role of the maqasid perspective in legal processes, and the country’s scholarly tradition, illustrating his points with various examples.

At the end of the seminar, participants posed their questions, engaging in a mutual exchange of ideas on both theoretical and practical topics. Faculty members and students stated that the seminar contributed meaningfully to the international academic collaborations of our faculty.

Following the program, Prof. Dr. Isse visited the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara, in his office. Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara emphasized his pleasure regarding the strengthening of academic cooperation between the two countries and highlighted the importance of maintaining such collaboration between theology faculties.
