Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) commemorated the honorable martyrs with mercy and gratitude through a program organized as part of 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day. During the “Our Will, Our Victory: Qur’an Recitation, Mawlid, Sermon and Prayer Program in Commemoration of the 15 July Martyrs” held at Farabi Mosque, recitations from the Qur’an were performed and prayers were offered for the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the homeland.

The program, held at Farabi Mosque on the Farabi Campus before the Friday prayer, was attended by BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, academic and administrative staff, students, and numerous citizens.

During the well-attended program, Qur’an recitations, the Mawlid al-Sharif, and the prayer for the completion of the Qur’an were performed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim Aydın, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sezer, Assist. Prof. Dr. Metin Gündoğdu, Assist. Prof. Dr. Adem Görmüş, Lecturer Sinan Sarı, Farabi Mosque Imam Sebahattin Altunkaya, and Muezzin-Kayyım Volkan Kulakçı, all of whom contributed to the program. In the sermon delivered during the program, emphasis was placed on the importance of the spirit of unity, solidarity, and sacrifice demonstrated by the nation on the night of 15 July, and the honorable martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland were commemorated with mercy and gratitude.

Rector Özölçer: “15 July Is a Historic Epic in Which Our Nation Stood Up for Its Will and Independence”

Following the program, Rector Prof. Dr. Özölçer made the following remarks:

“On the night of 15 July 2016, our noble nation made a great historic contribution by standing up for its homeland, flag, democracy, and national will, thereby writing an epic in golden letters in history. I commemorate with mercy, gratitude, and appreciation our heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives that dark night to safeguard our independence and future, and I wish our veterans healthy and blessed lives.”
