Ahead of final exams, Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Theology organized a cultural and artistic event designed to boost students’ morale and motivation, while also providing a platform for them to showcase their talents and knowledge.
Titled “Bir Tutam Muhabbet”, this heartfelt program was met with great enthusiasm. It began with an opening speech by the Faculty Dean, Prof. Dr. Seyfullah KARA, who emphasized their aim of supporting students' efforts in the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and art, and expressed his hope that the event would foster a climate of meaningful conversation.
Following the opening remarks, first-year student Hafız Ahmetcan Keskin delivered a moving recitation of the Holy Qur’an. This was followed by a duet call to Azan performance in the traditional “Istanbul style” by third-year student Enes Tayyip KURT and Ahmetcan KESKİN, reminiscent of the grand calls to Azan performed in Ottoman imperial mosques, earning high praise from the audience.
In the next segment, second-year student Halime Sultan EVKAYA showcased her talents in the visual arts through a presentation titled “Kaligrafik Grafik Tasarım (Calligraphic Graphic Design)”, which included modern interpretations of traditional Islamic calligraphy. Afterward, second-year student Ramazan MİRAN performed “Arapça 24 fiil sigasını (the 24 Arabic verb forms)” musically, and then successfully sang the Arabic nasheed Tala‘al-Badru ‘Alaynā.
One of the most striking moments of the art-filled program was the whirling dervish performance accompanied by ney and bendir instruments. Third-year students Neyzen Enes Tayyip KURT, Bendirzen Yahya Enes DİKEY, and Semazen Ömer Faruk KURU performed together, offering the audience a rich Sufi experience.
In the final segment, a surprise musical performance was held. Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. Seyfullah KARA crowned the event by performing the piece “Ömür Bahçesinin Gülü Solmadan (Before the Rose of Life’s Garden Withers)”, with lyrics by Yunus Emre, both singing and playing an instrument. He was accompanied by Dr. Metin GÜNDOĞDU and Research Assistant Dr. Adem GÖRMÜŞ on ney and bendir.
