Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Theology hosted an important conference addressing the current problems faced by youth and possible solutions. Held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 14:00 in the Faculty of Theology’s Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Arslan Conference Hall, the event was organized in cooperation with the Faculty and MEDEM and attracted a large audience.
The keynote speaker was Prof. Dr. Hasan Kâmil Yılmaz, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, former Vice President of Religious Affairs and former Mufti of Istanbul. Prof. Dr. Yılmaz provided an in-depth analysis of the religious, moral, cultural, and social issues facing today’s youth.
The program was attended by prominent figures such as Provincial Mufti Aşır Durgun, Deputy Muftis Zeynal Abidin Ünal and Ahmet Halıcı, former Zonguldak Provincial Director of Agriculture Cemalettin Çataklı, İlim Yayma Society Zonguldak Branch President İbrahim Cansız, and Zonguldak ÖNDER President Orhan Sağlam, as well as representatives from various official institutions and NGOs.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Hasan Kâmil Yılmaz evaluated the impact of the modern age on youth and emphasized the decisive role of family, education, spirituality, and role models in shaping young people's character. He stated that the identity crisis experienced by youth could be addressed through a strong foundation of faith and conscious religious guidance. The conference, which was followed with great interest, was highly appreciated by the attendees.
At the end of the program, Dean of the Faculty of Theology Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara presented a certificate of appreciation and a gift to Prof. Dr. Hasan Kâmil Yılmaz. Additionally, MEDEM Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuran Çetin gifted him her newly published book.
Following the conference, Prof. Dr. Hasan Kâmil Yılmaz and his guests were hosted at our Faculty, and commemorative photos were taken to mark the occasion.
