Our Dean Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara’s “First Lecture: Palestine”

Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara, Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, delivered the opening lecture of the 2025–2026 Academic Year titled “First Lecture: Palestine”. The program held at the Faculty of Theology attracted significant interest from academics, students, and invited guests.

The conference was also attended by Prof. Dr. Bekir Hakan Bakkal, Vice-Rector of the University.

In his speech, Dean Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara emphasized that the Palestine issue is not merely a regional crisis but a tragedy that concerns the conscience of all humanity. He referred to Israel as “a terrorist organization” and described the situation in Gaza as “genocide.”

Referring to verses in the Torah that have historically incited violence by Israel, Prof. Dr. Kara explained how these verses provided an ideological foundation and were used to justify oppression in Palestine, illustrating his points with examples.

He also highlighted that students should evaluate the issue not only through current news and debates but also in historical, legal, and ethical dimensions, underlining that the Palestinian cause is fundamentally a human rights issue.
