Prof. Dr. Murat Akın, a faculty member and Vice Dean of our Faculty, met with citizens at conferences held in Çaycuma and Devrek as part of the Mawlid al-Nabi Week activities.

At the programs organized by the Çaycuma Mufti’s Office and the Devrek District Mufti’s Office, Prof. Dr. Akın delivered conferences entitled “Family Communication in the Context of the Prophet Muhammad and Good Morality.” The first program was held on Tuesday, 25 August, at 14:00 at the Çaycuma Culture and Arts Center. The program attracted considerable interest, with the participation of the district protocol and numerous citizens. The second conference was held at 18:00 on the same day at the Devrek Atatürk Cultural Center, where Prof. Dr. Akın also addressed the participants.

The conferences centered on the verse in the Qur’an expressing the moral character of the Prophet Muhammad: “Indeed, you are of a great moral character.” (Al-Qalam, 4). The talks addressed the problems facing the contemporary family structure and drew attention to aspects of the institution of the family that have been gradually weakened by the changes brought about by modern life.

Emphasizing the importance of building the family on fundamental values such as love, respect, trust, and self-sacrifice, Prof. Dr. Akın stated that the example set by the Prophet Muhammad in family communication serves as an important guide for people today. Citing examples of virtues demonstrated by the Prophet in his family life, such as loyalty, patience, compassion, mercy, and justice, Akın noted that these values should not be regarded merely as memories belonging to the past, but rather as fundamental principles to be embraced in the revitalization of contemporary family life.

Prof. Dr. Akın also drew attention to the decisive role of communication in establishing a healthy family structure, stating that the Prophet Muhammad’s manner of communicating with his family members contains important messages for creating a family environment based on love and understanding.

The conferences, which were held with strong participation, provided an opportunity to reconsider the exemplary morality and family life of the Prophet Muhammad in the context of contemporary circumstances, in accordance with the meaning and spirit of Mawlid al-Nabi Week.
