Prof. Dr. İsmail Kara Met with Students and Academics at Our Faculty



Our Faculty hosted a scholarly gathering on Friday, May 17, 2025. Prof. Dr. İsmail Kara—renowned for his work in the fields of Islamic thought and the history of Islamic culture in Türkiye, and held in high regard within academic and intellectual circles—visited our Faculty and met with our students and faculty members.

In the first part of the program, Prof. Dr. Kara’s works “Şeyhefendinin Rüyasındaki TürkiyeBiraz Yakın Biraz Uzak Hurafe, and Amel Defteri were discussed in depth with students from the Ahde Vefa Student Community who had read the books. The students had the opportunity to evaluate the topics covered in these works within the context of the Islamic intellectual tradition and contemporary issues. Prof. Dr. Kara shared detailed insights into the historical and social processes behind these works.

In the second part of the program, Prof. Dr. Kara met with our faculty members in the Faculty's music room for a sincere and scholarly conversation. A comprehensive exchange of ideas took place on topics such as culture, art, religion, modernization, and religion-politics relations. The fact that Prof. Dr. Kara was awarded the Presidential Grand Prize in Culture and Arts in 2020 further enhanced the significance and meaning of the gathering.

The program, which attracted great interest from both students and academics, concluded by contributing to the formation of a productive academic environment.
