As part of the Ministry of National Education’s Directorate General of Religious Education’s 2025 “Summer Training Activities for Teachers,” educators from various provinces gathered at the Faculty of Theology in Zonguldak. Within the scope of the event, a “Siyer-Hadith” themed seminar was held on July 25, 2025, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara, Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Bülent Ecevit University.
Coordinated by the Zonguldak Provincial Directorate of National Education, the program was attended by Deputy Provincial Director of National Education Adem Gülşen, Alaplı Imam Hatip High School Principal and Provincial Coordinator of the program Ersin Güler, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Theology Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hikmetullah Ertaş, university academics, and many Imam Hatip school teachers from various provinces.
In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara addressed methodological and pedagogical challenges in teaching Siyer and Hadith today, while also discussing new academic approaches and educational strategies in these fields. He highlighted key points for teachers to consider in order to transfer their knowledge and skills in these core subjects more effectively into the classroom.
Deputy Provincial Director of National Education Adem Gülşen emphasized the importance of such seminars for teachers’ professional development, stating: “We value activities that respond to our teachers’ needs in the field and allow them to directly engage with subject-matter experts. For our students to receive a higher quality religious education, our teachers must remain open to continuous development.”
Provincial Coordinator and Alaplı Imam Hatip High School Principal Ersin Güler shared insights into the organization process and participation levels, noting that the seminar attracted great interest from teachers, proved to be productive, and that they aimed to increase the frequency of such events.
Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hikmetullah Ertaş stressed the importance of collaboration between the academic community and practitioners in the field, stating: “As a faculty, we are aware of our responsibility not only to produce knowledge but also to transfer it to the field. In this regard, supporting our teachers is a duty for us.”
The seminar concluded with thanks to the participants, highlighting that the program had enhanced teachers’ professional motivation and left a positive impact within the educational community.
