The 29th Meeting of the Turkish Theology Faculties Deans Council (TİDKONSEY) has ended

Gaziantep Islamic University of Science and Technology (GİBTÜ) hosted a comprehensive meeting with the participation of academics from all over Turkey. Our Dean Prof. Dr. Seyfullah KARA also attended the meeting. The meeting was organized with the aim of restructuring the Faculties of Theology and Islamic Sciences in line with the needs of the age, increasing academic excellence and strengthening cooperation between universities.

The opening speeches of the meeting were made by the President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, GİBTÜ Rector and TİDKONSEY President Prof. Dr. Şehmus Demir, Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin. In the speeches, it was emphasized that theological education should be carried into the future with a dynamic structure.

Rector Prof. Dr. In his speech, Şehmus Demir drew attention to the fact that theology faculties should not only be educational institutions but also institutions that reproduce the truth on a scientific basis and guide the society, and said the following:

“These faculties should not be content with just teaching what they promise to humanity; they should produce the truth on a scientific basis, bring it together with humanity, and bear the responsibility of building the future.”

Academic Agenda: From Curriculum to Publication Performance
The meeting was held in three sessions.

The first session addressed undergraduate education models and the restructuring processes of faculties.

The second session discussed graduate education, İLİTAM applications, and research projects.

In the third session, issues such as academic publication processes, performance criteria, and associate professorship criteria were discussed.

A Roadmap Created with Commission Reports
The commission reports under eight different headings created within the scope of the meeting were presented to the evaluation of the participants. These reports;

include concrete suggestions under headings such as strengthening quality assurance systems,

curriculum compliance,

digitalization,

graduate tracking systems

and internationalization.

Competent Names in Their Fields Were Together
Academicians such as Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Karaman, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Abay and Prof. Dr. Hasan Meydan, who are important names in the field of theological education in Turkey, participated in the meeting as speakers. The participants strengthened the interaction between universities by sharing their knowledge and experiences.
