Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Theology held its 2024–2025 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony with great enthusiasm. The event took place at the Sezai Karakoç Cultural Center and was attended by our university’s Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Şenol Hakan Kutoğlu and Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, as well as senate members, academic and administrative staff, and the families of our graduating students.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence in memory of our martyrs, followed by the singing of the Turkish National Anthem. The program continued with a recitation from the Qur'an and proceeded with the opening speeches.
In his opening speech, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu began by addressing the humanitarian tragedy in Palestine since October 7, 2023, expressing his hope for an immediate end to the oppression in Gaza and other parts of the world. Emphasizing that universities are not only centers of scientific production but also institutions that shape individuals with social, cultural, moral, and spiritual values, Prof. Dr. Karasu addressed the graduates with the following words:
“You have worked with patience and dedication on this blessed path toward the professions you dreamed of. By internalizing our values along with academic knowledge, you have made great efforts to contribute to our country and nation. Today, you are no longer just graduates; you are individuals who will illuminate our future. May your path be bright and your journey prosperous.”
Following Prof. Dr. Karasu, the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara, took the stage and began his speech by greeting all the guests who attended the graduation ceremony. Expressing his belief that the graduates of our faculty will achieve significant success in the future through the Qur’anic ethics that the theology profession embodies, Prof. Dr. Kara thanked all supporters, especially our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, who contributed to the development of our university and faculty, and congratulated the graduating students.
