The program titled “Reflections from Âşık Veysel into Our Inner World”, organized jointly by the Faculty of Theology and the Teoman Duralı Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, focused on the poetry, intellectual world, and cultural legacy of the renowned folk poet Âşık Veysel. The program was addressed by our Faculty Dean, Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhittin Turan. The event, held at the Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Arslan Conference Hall of the Faculty of Theology, attracted significant participation from Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, academic staff, and students.

The program began with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, followed by an opening speech by Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, who emphasized Âşık Veysel’s place in Anatolian wisdom and cultural heritage.

In the academic session of the event, our Dean, Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara, evaluated the cultural legacy represented by Âşık Veysel from a broad perspective. He stated that Âşık Veysel was not only a folk poet, but also a figure of deep wisdom who nourished the profound cultural traditions of Anatolia through his poetry and shaped the inner world with insight. Prof. Dr. Kara emphasized that understanding Âşık Veysel is of great importance for preserving cultural continuity, noting that the poet produced a timeless value through his mystical depth, humanistic outlook, and universal messages. He also pointed out that Veysel’s works present a multi-layered world of meaning reflecting both the social structure of his time and the individual’s inner journey.

Following his presentation, Prof. Dr. Seyfullah Kara performed two folk songs by Âşık Veysel accompanied by the bağlama, creating emotional moments for the audience. Participants shared in the poet’s inner world through the music.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhittin Turan then delivered a presentation analyzing Âşık Veysel’s poetry in terms of content and meaning. The program concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation and a group photo session.
